The Financing Flood Resilient Infrastructure (FFRI) project has reached several key milestones. FFRI is an $8 million project, with $4.14 million from the Australian Government's Disaster Ready Fund.
A new Strategic Reference Group met for the first time in April, guiding case study site selection. It brings together senior representatives from Infrastructure Victoria, DCCEEW, JLT, South East Water, the Department of Treasury and Finance, and Westernport Biosphere.
Two new tools are helping member councils understand and respond to flood risk:
The Enhanced Asset Vulnerability Assessment (EAVA) combines new asset data, best-available flood modelling and the latest climate projections. It shows which public and private assets and communities are most exposed to flooding.
The Asset Criticality Assessment (ACA) shows which assets are most critical to community function and service continuity, and where they intersect with flood risk across the region.
