Tackling climate risk together: highlights from the VGA Conference

The 2026 VGA Conference showed how Victorian councils are tackling climate risk head-on. SECCCA hosted two panel discussions.

The first, The climate for AI, looked at how artificial intelligence is changing climate risk management in local government. Panellists kept coming back to two points: keep humans in the loop, and treat governance as seriously as the technology.

The second, Partnerships for climate adaptation, looked at how alliances turn shared risk into shared action. Alliances help councils find common ground and avoid duplicating effort.
